Metroid Prime 2’s Brutal Two-Year Development Crunch Revisited by Nintendo

Nintendo reveals Metroid Prime 2 was built in just two years, with no delays and daily progress under extreme pressure.

In a blog post, the studio thanked the community for four years of support before confirming that Halo Infinite’s development is officially winding down. The reason? The team needs full focus on what comes next.

“With multiple Halo titles in development, we’ll need our whole team’s combined focus to deliver new experiences with the same passion and care that our community has given us.”

One of those projects is Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s legendary story mode, set to launch in 2026 across Xbox Series X|S, PC, and surprisingly PlayStation 5.

Outside of Campaign Evolved, the studio hasn’t confirmed what else is coming. Still, rumors point to a standalone live-service multiplayer Halo game, potentially breaking from Infinite’s structure. Nothing official yet, but insiders suggest a new direction may be taking shape possibly blending arena combat with broader progression systems.

For longtime fans, it’s final update closes a turbulent but resilient era. The game saw its share of setbacks, but post-launch support brought steady improvements. Now, with Halo Studios looking ahead, a new wave of titles is on the horizon.

Whether it’s revisiting the past with Campaign Evolved or stepping into uncharted multiplayer territory, the next phase of Halo starts now just not on Zeta Halo.
